Your Invitation to the GridCell Project Workshop: Community Energy Trading
On 6 October, the PNDC and Fundamentals will be hosting a joint interactive online workshop, which is being organised as part of the GridCell project.
Within GridCell, five key technologies are being integrated — Accurate Resilient Timing, Smart Power Sensors, AI-based resource scheduling, Smart Network Control and Smart Contracts. The aim is to form a highly innovative solution which creates significant new opportunities for grid management within the context of increasing renewables penetration.
GridCell is based around a new paradigm — the Smart Power Cell (SPC, or ‘Cell’). The Cell will combine local load, storage and power generation assets into an integrated smart power element which can operate either fully connected to the grid or, in the case of either full or partial grid failure, completely autonomously, maintaining supplies for local consumers.
The workshop will discuss community energy trading and detail the latest work from the project. It will be introduced by keynote speaker John Scott, Company Advisor and Community Energy Lead.
The Agenda will be as follows:
09:30 – 09:40 | Introduction by keynote speaker, John Scott |
09:40 – 09:45 | ESA/NAVISP Programme, Fabio Principe (European Space Agency – ESA) |
09:45 – 10:10 | GridCell project update, Anastasios Rousis (SMP Networks) |
10:10 – 10:35 | Ardnamurchan Community Energy Project, Donald Houston (Ardnamurchan Community) |
10:35 – 11:00 | Community Energy Business Model, Simon Peltenburg (Ripple Energy) |
11:00 – 11:10 | Break |
11:10 – 11:35 | Communities on the Grid (CoG), David Brain (Powerline Technologies – Fundamentals Group) |
11:35 – 12:05 | Interactive Discussion |
Participation will be via Microsoft Teams and registration can be accomplished via this Eventbrite link.
