The rapid uptake of solar PV has caused problems on low voltage residential electricity networks.

The solar PV systems generating at their maximum during the middle of the day, when residential consumption is typically low, causes voltage rises on the low voltage networks which can result in solar PV and EV inverters to trip.

High voltages also reduce residential appliance efficiency and lifetime, and increase energy wastage, bills and greenhouse gas emissions.

LV regulation devices can automatically adjust voltages to reduce the voltage variations on the network and keep within acceptable limits.
