Fundamentals delivers affordable, intelligent voltage control for industrial and private network operators, helping them prepare for low carbon grid expansion

New SuperTAPP SG Essential relay delivers scalable, automated voltage management future-proofing Private Network Operators’ infrastructure
Wiltshire, UK – 19th August 2025 – Fundamentals, the expert in intelligent grid voltage control, has launched SuperTAPP SG Essential, a new automatic voltage control (AVC) relay that makes smart voltage management more accessible for industrial and Private Network Operators.
The new relay is built on 30 years of Fundamentals’ established SuperTAPP technology. It delivers robust, automated voltage control for private networks facing variable loads and supply conditions, without the cost or complexity of traditional AVC systems, ensuring consistent voltage levels and optimised supply performance. This helps operators maintain reliability and reduce the risks from fluctuating loads or supply conditions.
Designed for use across manufacturing, renewable energy, process industries, data centres, healthcare, transport, and defence, the relay is suited to a wide range of private power networks. It has also been built to meet the needs of Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs).
John Hiscock, CEO of Fundamentals, commented: “Industrial facilities, data centres, and renewable energy sites are stepping up to manage their own energy infrastructure. But too often, they’re left without the voltage control tools they need. The market has long prioritised solutions for large utilities, not the networks that demand agility, resilience, and efficiency. At the same time, ageing infrastructure worldwide is under pressure from the demands of a low carbon grid. SuperTAPP SG Essential fills that gap. It’s smart, scalable, and finally makes voltage control practical and affordable for private operators.”
SuperTAPP SG Essential automates voltage regulation by intelligently controlling transformer tap positions. Its modular design means operators can start with the Essential model and upgrade over time to Basic, Advanced or Ultimate configurations, without replacing hardware.
It supports a range of deployment options including self-installation, with technical support from Fundamentals; commissioned installation and configuration; or integration into a complete voltage control scheme, provided by Fundamentals or via third party suppliers.
