Who We Are and What We Do

We create, licence, manufacture, sell and provide services for technologies which:

  • Control and monitor high voltages and power (11 kV to 400 kV and up to 1000 MVA); and
  • Are fitted in electricity substations, on overhead power lines, and in control centres.

We call this Total Voltage Control.

We currently have opportunities for 2 Product Owners / Managers within our technology development function. A more senior and experienced appointee will oversee our portfolio and the product management function as Product and Portfolio Manager, while the more junior role of product owner could be suitable for a development or application engineer wishing to move into product management.

Salary will be dependent on experience and the role.

As Product Owner you would be spending most of your time working within our agile process:

  • Maintaining and ordering the list of work to be completed, balancing market, customer and Company commercial needs
  • Making product-orientated decisions, supported as appropriate by:
  • market research, intelligence and competitor analysis
  • voice of the customer (VOC) to define requirements for new product and feature development
  • Providing specialist product knowledge and support to the business; using your expertise to forecast challenges and develop solutions
  • Be the central hub for information relevant to customers
  • Liaise with Account Managers for effective and consistent communications with customers

As your experience dictates you could also:

  • Work with Marketing to produce content for promotional material
  • Provide pre-sale technical and application advice to customers
  • Advise customers in the use of the product and solving customer product-related issues

Additional responsibilities of the Product and Portfolio Manager:

  • Contributing to the development of company strategy in relation to our technology and portfolio
  • Providing market-based input into product pricing
  • Working to gain customer approvals
  • Support with product promotion and tendering
  • Leading and developing the product management function and people who are accountable to you

A successful holder of the product and portfolio manager role will have the potential to develop to lead the wider Technology Development function and become a part of company leadership.

Product Owner and Product and Portfolio Manager requirements:

  • Degree or HND level qualification preferably in an electrical, electronic or software engineering discipline, or relevant industry experience.
  • Excellent motivational, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Credible and confident communicator, capable of reading and understanding technical specifications and drawings.
  • Able to think ‘big picture’ and prioritise and manage and drive change.
